Departing from Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital, you’ll travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, the lush Ziz Valley, and reach the spectacular Sahara Desert.

Ride camels into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, spend a magical night under Saharan skies in a traditional desert camp, and explore the dramatic Todra Gorges. The journey continues through the scenic Dades Valley, Ouarzazate, and the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas Mountains to arrive in Marrakech.

4 Days Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi)

Depart Fes in the morning and head south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture and clean streets, before continuing to Azrou’s cedar forest where you can spot the Barbary apes. Cross the dramatic landscapes around Midelt before reaching the lush palm groves of the Ziz Valley.

Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Swap your vehicle for camels and ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, watching the sun set over the horizon. Dinner, music, and an unforgettable night await in a traditional desert camp under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Ride camels or take a 4x4 back to Merzouga village and continue towards Erfoud, famous for its fossils and date market.

From here, drive through Tinghir to the dramatic Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs rise nearly 300 meters above a crystal-clear river. After a short walk inside the gorge, travel along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” until you reach the breathtaking landscapes of the Dades Valley. Overnight in a hotel overlooking the gorge.

Day 3: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

This morning, enjoy more views of the red cliffs and oases of the Dades Valley before driving to Ouarzazate, nicknamed the “Hollywood of Africa” for its film studios and desert backdrops. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most famous kasbah and a filming location for movies such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

In the afternoon, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), passing Berber villages with stone houses and terraced fields. Arrive in Marrakech by early evening and transfer to your accommodation for overnight.

Day 4: Marrakech Guided Sightseeing Tour
