6 Days Fes to Casablanca Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Depart from Fes in the morning and travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass through Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture, and the cedar forests near Azrou, where you may spot Barbary apes in their natural habitat.

Continuing south, you’ll journey through the scenic Ziz Valley with its lush palm groves before reaching Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. In the late afternoon, ride camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes and enjoy a magical desert sunset. Dinner and overnight in a traditional desert camp under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes, a truly unforgettable moment. After breakfast, return by camel or 4x4 to Merzouga village, where your driver will be waiting. The journey continues north towards Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and date market.

From here, you’ll travel to Tinghir to visit the spectacular Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs rise nearly 300 meters high. After a walk in the gorge, continue to the Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and kasbahs. Dinner and overnight in a hotel overlooking the valley.

Day 3: Dades Valley Exploration

In the afternoon, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the dramatic scenery of the valley. You may also take optional hikes or visit local cooperatives that produce rosewater and other traditional crafts. Dinner and overnight in the Dades Valley for a second night.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, depart the Dades Valley and head towards Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa” for its film studios and desert landscapes. Stop to visit the Kasbah Taourirt, once home to the powerful Glaoui family, before continuing towards Ait Ben Haddou.

Explore the UNESCO-listed ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village that has featured in many films such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. From here, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (~2,260 m) with panoramic views before descending into Marrakech for overnight.

Day 5: Marrakech Sightseeing with Official Local Guide

Spend the day exploring Marrakech with a licensed local guide. Highlights include the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Wander through the colorful souks where artisans sell everything from spices to carpets.

In the afternoon, you may choose to visit the Majorelle Gardens or simply relax in your riad. Marrakech is a city full of life and contrasts, where centuries-old traditions blend with modern energy. Dinner at leisure and overnight in Marrakech.

Day 6: Marrakech – Casablanca (Departure)

After breakfast, depart Marrakech for Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital. The drive takes you across fertile plains before reaching the Atlantic coast. If time permits, you’ll visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, built partly over the ocean.

As your journey comes to an end, your driver will assist you with transfer to Casablanca Airport or to your accommodation.
