Your journey begins in sunny Agadir, where the Atlantic breeze and long sandy beaches give the city a laid-back charm. After a short exploration of the coastal promenade, we head inland through the fertile Souss Valley, famous for its argan trees and olive groves. Our first stop is Taroudant, often called the “Little Marrakech” for its red ramparts and lively souks. Here, you’ll stroll through the medina, discover Berber handicrafts, and enjoy a glimpse into authentic Moroccan daily life.
From Taroudant, the road takes us through the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains toward Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Known for its mud-brick ksar and its starring roles in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones, Ait Ben Haddou is one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks. As the sun sets, the kasbah glows in golden tones, offering a perfect photo opportunity before overnighting in a nearby guesthouse.
In the morning, you’ll have more time to explore Ait Ben Haddou, wandering through its narrow alleys and traditional fortified homes. Standing atop its granary, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding valley and desert plains. This ksar has long been an important stop for traders traveling between the Sahara and Marrakech, adding to its historical importance.
We then continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where international movies continue to be filmed. After a quick visit, we travel through the Skoura Oasis, home to the well-preserved Kasbah Amridil. The road continues along the Valley of Roses, famous for its fragrant rosewater production, before reaching the dramatic Dades Valley. Known for its strange rock formations and winding gorges, the valley is a highlight of southern Morocco. Overnight in a charming riad overlooking the cliffs.
After breakfast, we set out through the stunning Dades Gorges, where bizarre rock formations like the “Monkey Fingers” dominate the landscape. The winding roads here provide breathtaking panoramas and glimpses of rural Berber life, with mud-brick houses and terraced fields clinging to the hillsides.
We continue to the impressive Todra Gorges, a natural wonder with towering cliffs that rise nearly 300 meters high. Popular with rock climbers and hikers, it’s also a perfect spot for a leisurely walk along the river. After lunch, the journey takes us across desert plains through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops. By evening, we reach Merzouga, where camels await to carry you across the golden dunes of the Erg Chebbi Desert. A magical night follows in a desert camp, complete with traditional music under a sky filled with stars.
Wake up early to experience a spectacular sunrise over the dunes before returning by camel to Merzouga village. After breakfast, we begin the long but scenic drive to Fes, crossing the ever-changing landscapes of Morocco.
The road takes us through the Ziz Valley, with its palm groves and ancient ksars, before climbing into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop in Azrou’s Cedar Forest, home to the playful Barbary Apes (National Geographic), and in Ifrane, nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture. By evening, we arrive in Fes, where you’ll settle into your riad inside the old medina.
Today is dedicated to discovering Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and spiritual heart. With a local guide, you’ll explore the Fes el-Bali medina, a labyrinth of more than 9,000 narrow alleys filled with souks, artisan workshops, and historic monuments. One of the highlights is the Al Quaraouiyine University (UNESCO), founded in the 9th century and considered the world’s oldest existing university.
You’ll also visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Royal Palace gates, the famous leather tanneries, and the vibrant Nejjarine Square. Each corner of Fes offers a unique atmosphere, from spiritual sanctuaries to bustling bazaars. In the evening, you can enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine in your riad or at a local restaurant inside the medina. Overnight in Fes.
On your final day, enjoy a relaxed morning in Fes, perhaps doing some last-minute shopping in the souks or revisiting your favorite spots in the medina. Depending on your flight or travel schedule, we’ll provide a transfer to Fes Airport (FEZ) or onward to Casablanca or Marrakech, if needed.
This marks the end of your 6-day tour from Agadir to Sahara Desert and Fes — a journey that has taken you from the Atlantic coast to the majestic Atlas Mountains, through kasbahs, valleys, and the golden dunes of the Sahara, before arriving in Morocco’s cultural heart.
